How I like to work with you
I feel that mental health and well-being is important to us and something we deserve. I endeavour to provide a service that will have long lasting effects, so it is important to me that we work at a pace which suits you, gently working together to draw out the best of you and to meet your individual needs.
When we first meet, we can consider your personal needs and expectations of counselling. Together we can explore your inner thoughts and feelings to help you understand why you feel the way you do. It may be that you want to feel happier, less stressed or maybe you feel you are carrying anxiety and you need to understand what the feelings mean, or that you would like to make life more fulfilling or get to know yourself better.
I use a Person Centred Approach. This is primarily where I began, but over the years I have integrated other approaches, and draw on experience to help me work with individuals and their personal needs. Being Person Centred means I am non-directive. It is not for me to give you advice, but to help you explore what it is that has brought you to this point in your life, this will help you make the right decisions for yourself.
We will meet in a private room dedicated to therapy. I want to provide you with a safe, warm, comfortable, space where you can relax. I believe this, along with the relationship and the theory learned will lead to effective therapeutic work. The ideal way to meet is on a weekly basis but we will agree a suitable time and schedule to suit.
I am based just outside Liskeard with parking and on a local bus route.
I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) so you can have confidence that I work to and comply with their professional framework.
